My Review on "Khaos Super Turbo Charger"

"Khaos Super Turbo Charger" - A Filipino invention that claims that your Gasoline powered car will save from 20~50% on fuel, increase power, and 0% emission when installed.
Retail price for the unit is PHP6,500.00 and distributors are all around the metropolis.

Being an automotive junkie, I just had to find out all about this "revolutionary" product.
Fist of all, KSTC works by bleeding air into the intake manifold whenever the IM vacuum reaches a certain level. This vacuum is the force which sucks fuel from the idle fuel jet of the carburetor. By bleeding air in, the IM vacuum decreases, as well as the fuel flow in the jet. Thus fuel savings, better combustion and more power.

Well, the ideal stoichiometric air fuel ratio for gasoline is 14.7:1 by weight. If the fuel and air is properly mixed and the ratio is 14.7:1, 100% combustion is achieved thus maximum power is harnessed and harmful emission is minimized. In a carburetor engine, the air and fuel mixture is governed by a venturi meter. This uses the Bernouli's principle to achieve a correct air-fuel ratio at any speed. The problem is during idling and low engine speeds, there is not enough air flow to produce a good mixture so the remedy is the Idle jet that will supply extra fuel to compensate. This is driven by the intake manifold vacuum, like I have said before. This produces a very rich air fuel ratio and is not very ideal. KSTC bleeds air to correct the A:F ratio for better combustion.

Effective?

I believe the principle can be applicable ONLY to carburetor equipped engines and early EFI engines with "open loop" system (No Oxygen sensor type). Closed loop fuel management system has an oxygen sensor mounted at the exhaust manifold. When this sensor detects oxygen at the exhaust, the computer thinks that the air fuel mixture is lean and will order the fuel injectors to inject more fuel. This system makes KSTC ineffective.

For carbureted engines, introducing more air into the combustion chamber creates a lean A:F mixture and a lean A:F mixture produces more NOx Gas due which is also harmful to the environment, though carbon monoxide is minimized.

Why do I think this is crap?
The name itself is deceiving. A "Turbo Charger" works by harnessing the energy from the exhaust gas by installing a turbine so as the exhaust gas exits, it will rotate a turbine which is then coupled to an air compressor to compress the air moving into the intake of the engine. This system, instead of normal atmospheric pressure pushing air into the engine, more air can enter the engine so more fuel can be burned so more power is produced. KSTC simply bleeds air in, the generic name for this device is "Air Bleeder". I found a similar product which works the same principle http://turbomizer.com/_wsn/page2.html .
Another claim that makes my criticism hormones jump is when they said "Zero Emissions". Technically this is impossible. What goes in must come out.
One more thing, almost all EFi engines are equipped with an oxygen sensor so this makes KSTC useless to most cars.

Would I recommend this?
Yes, I would recommend this product to old cars. Since old cars are carbureted and have a very fucked up A:F ratio, installing this will greately improve fuel consumption and over-all performance of the car. But it would still be nothing compared to new cars.

This is only my opinion, based on facts that I have gathered regarding this product.
Pero kung ako may 6,500 papa tune up ko nalang sa casa auto ko, then may sukli pa pang bile ng goodies pang pa pogi ng car...
